Requirements
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A.
  • A current X endorsement combining Hazmat and Tanker.
  • A Tanker endorsement (N), required.
  • At least two years of verifiable tanker driving experience within the last five years.
  • At least 23 years of age.
  • A clean motor vehicle record and strong safety record.
  • No DUI or OWI on record within the last five years.
  • No prohibition in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • No at-fault or preventable fatal or rollover accident in the last five years.
  • No more than two moving violations in the last three years.
  • No more than two Commercial Safety Alliance moving violations in the last 18 months.
  • No falsification on the driver’s application.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical, drug screening, and background check.
  • Completion of a minimum one-week new-hire in-person training.
  • Attendance at quarterly mandatory safety meetings.
  • Compliance with Drug and Alcohol Policy and Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Compliance with HM 232 and the provided Emergency Response Plan.
  • Completion of General Awareness testing in accordance with 49 CFR 172, Subpart H.
  • Compliance with RCMS certification and Health, Safety, and Environment policy requirements.
  • Dependability, a safety-minded approach, and the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations when needed.
  • Use of forward-facing cameras on company and contractor equipment.
  • Operation of governed company equipment.
  • Participation in incident and accident investigations, including driver reporting and injury investigations.
Responsibilities
  • Safely operate tanker trucks transporting bulk liquid materials.
  • Load and unload bulk liquids using hoses, pumps, and valves while following strict safety protocols.
  • Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Maintain accurate trip records, logs, and inspection reports.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatchers and customers.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, and applicable safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Represent Altom professionally during customer interactions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hazmat endorsement (H), preferred and required within 90 days of hire; assistance is available.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential card, preferred or obtainable after hire.
