Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of relevant underwriting experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills & ability to quickly grasp concepts
  • Effectively articulates features / benefits of Markel programs, products & services
  • Has strong customer service skills and establishes foundation to negotiate effectively with agents
  • Meets or exceeds premium targets as agreed with management based on market / profitability conditions

Responsibilities
  • Manages assigned territory and book of business (maintains quality of business)
  • Works with internal business partners counterpart(s) (Business Development, Underwriting, PLL) to manage assigned territory and book of business – to including limited travel to key markets and agency relationships
  • Accountable for accurate underwriting documentation/information in account management systems and adherence to documentation standards
  • Knowledgeable in coverage forms and policy language; appropriate utilization of forms and exclusions
  • Understands and executes strategies to produce budgeted results
  • Maintains strong working relationships with both regional and product line leadership
  • Produces and underwrites business from assigned agents/brokers
