About the Team
At Nutanix, you will be a part of the Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV) team, a group dispersed across the US and APAC regions. AHV is an enterprise-grade hypervisor designed for Nutanix’s software solution, offering reliability, performance, and scalability ideal for demanding enterprise and private cloud workloads. Your focus will be on Virtual Machine Lifecycle Management, ensuring the design and implementation of consistent and highly scalable distributed services.
You will report to the Sr. Technical Manager, Engineering. The work setup at Nutanix is hybrid, where team members are expected to come into the office 2-3 days a week, fostering collaboration and face-to-face interactions. We emphasize minimizing meetings and encourage document-based communication for a more flexible schedule and transparent knowledge sharing. Additionally, we have Nutanix lunch days twice a week, providing a great opportunity for in-person connections with your team and other colleagues.
There are no travel requirements for this position at Nutanix, ensuring you can focus on your responsibilities and contribute effectively within the team dynamic.
Your Role
- Contribute to the development of Nutanix’s Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV)
- Design and develop new AHV security features
- Maintain and fix issues in AHV security features
- Push for improved reliability, performance, and security of AHV
- Interact with open source communities
- Lead the development of features from concept to market
- Have extensive knowledge of OS internals, particularly UNIX/Linux
- Utilize C and Python programming languages for development
- Be familiar with x86 architecture, virtualization, storage, and network management
What You Will Bring
- Strong proficiency in C and Python programming languages
- Extensive knowledge of OS internals, particularly UNIX/Linux
- Familiarity with x86 architecture, virtualization, storage, and network management
- Experience developing software for Unix/Linux/BSD operating systems at the kernel level
- Skilled in C/C++, multi-threading, algorithms, data structures on Linux
- Strong debugging skills in Linux kernel mode
- Device driver development experience in Unix/Linux/BSD environments
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 136,800 and USD $ 273,600 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
