Requirements
  • Four to six years of related work experience in marketing, media, or related fields.
  • At least two years of direct employee supervision experience, including developing career progression and review programs.
  • A minimum BA/BS degree specializing in marketing, communications, business management, or sports marketing.
  • Direct experience buying and executing paid media deals across radio, television, and out-of-home media.
  • Ability to translate data results into clear, concise summaries and presentations.
  • Ability to copyright across multiple touchpoints, including campaign taglines, broadcast, and radio.
  • Ability to prioritize, remain flexible with changing priorities, and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in an office and arena environment that may be loud and distracting.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including late nights, holidays, and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to work prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to work in cold, hot, indoor, and outdoor temperatures.
  • Ability to travel within the United States and Canada for up to one week at a time, multiple times per year.
Responsibilities
  • Execute end-to-end integrated campaigns for strategic omnichannel partnerships, including retail, ticketing, special events, experiential and grassroots marketing, the Lightning Foundation, Hockey Development, and NHL league initiatives, to achieve defined awareness, engagement, audience-growth, and revenue KPIs.
  • Serve as a project-management liaison between Marketing, Digital, Social, Community Hockey, Community Relations, Corporate Communications, People Operations, Hockey Operations, Facilities, Game Presentation, Ticketing, Partnership, Premium, MS&S, Retail, and Event Marketing.
  • Assist the Director of Marketing & Fan Experience with advertising and media-buying plans and promotional plans.
  • Oversee the strategy and trafficking of print, radio, and television advertisements.
  • Manage the intake, tracking, and assignment of creative requests; allocate resources, schedule timelines, and facilitate asset delivery for stakeholder review and approval.
  • Work with Digital Marketing to execute full-funnel advertising campaigns across radio, television, and out-of-home channels, including media planning, trafficking, and optimization across paid, earned, and owned channels.
  • Track and evaluate campaign impact, recap results, analyze marketing-generated pipelines, and implement action plans to address gaps.
  • Coordinate promotional programs and initiatives, including the Kids Club and Student Rush programs.
  • Assist with negotiating, closing, implementing, and evaluating media and promotional deals.
  • Participate in strategic planning for general-market sales activity and develop programs to maximize sales.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions while providing leadership and guidance.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and support to direct reports.
  • Directly oversee the Marketing Coordinator and University of South Florida Fellow.
  • Work a minimum of 50% of home games, approximately 50–60 events per year, for special theme nights and promotions.
  • Work Tampa Bay Lightning branded events and initiatives as needed, including the season kick-off event, hockey development activations, and playoff events.

Vinik Sports Group oversees the Tampa Bay Lightning and owns the lease to Benchmark International Arena in downtown Tampa, and also manages the Yuengling Center at the University of South Florida via TBSE. It runs the team and venues, handling operations, branding, and renovations, including a private upgrade of the publicly owned arena, and works with private partners like Benchmark International and Arctos.
