Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Registered in Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); or current RSFH teammate with a high school diploma or GED and a permanent certification in Radiography from SCRQSA.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Card.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA and The Joint Commission standards and regulations.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Following established protocol and under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, CT technologists will produce computed tomography scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed by the physician in order to interpret and diagnose patient disease or injury.
  • Technologists will assist the radiologists on procedures as needed and be responsible for supervision of student Radiologic Technologists assigned to them.
  • Care and safety of patients during imaging procedures utilizing age appropriate care; obtain correct written order for procedure; efficient use of time to accomplish patient care assignments; assist in the clinical education of student technologists.
  • Efficient utilization of imaging equipment with attention to minimizing repeat examinations; use supplies with emphasis on cost containment.
  • Instructs and prepares patients regarding imaging procedures; obtain informed consent as needed; ensure patient understanding and communicate discharge instructions to family; respond to needs of internal and external customers.
  • Ensures correct orders, diagnosis and clinical history are entered into computer system; communicates with Radiologist; professional demeanor.
  • Adheres to hospital, departmental and safety policies; practices radiation protection; ALARA; completes annual in-services and maintains licensure; supports department goals; maintains confidentiality.
  • Assists other Imaging Team members and departments; works as a team player; demonstrates flexibility and accountability; takes initiative to improve departmental operations and completes required education, development, and evaluation (EDE).
  • Performs other job duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals preferred.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Computed Tomography Program preferred.
  • One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
  • ARRT registration in computed tomography (CT) preferred.
  • New graduates in Radiology Technologist cross-modality training considered for opportunity.
