Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Six years of interaction design experience in product design or user experience design.
  • Experience designing for native app-first experiences, such as iOS or Android.
  • Experience contributing to mature design systems, including component design, documentation, and education.
  • A portfolio, website, or other relevant link to work must be included in the resume, with a viewable link or access instructions.
Responsibilities
  • Create and extend interaction patterns, reconcile design divergences, and craft durable design frameworks that elevate user experiences.
  • Define the style and provide direction for the visual artifacts of SDS Native documents and tools.
  • Partner with product areas to advocate for SDS and App Foundations, promote standards, and integrate changes into guidelines.
  • Identify emerging needs, develop interaction design best practices, and contribute to interaction pattern documentation.
  • Lead or contribute to key projects using a holistic systems-thinking approach and advocate for user needs across platforms and applications.
  • Foster a system-wide design mindset within the team.
  • Partner strategically with engineering, product, and Search Foundations to define the future of design systems at Search and Google.
  • Apply user-centered design methods to craft user experiences from concept to execution.
  • Create user flows and wireframes, build mockups and prototypes, and bring product experiences to life.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product management while leveraging user insights to create products.
  • Lead with craft and proactively shape a cohesive, intuitive, and user-centric foundation for the app.
  • Own the core architecture and foundational elements that enable teams to build a personalized, adaptable, and reliable Search app.
  • Establish a clear architectural point of view that guides future development.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Three years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • Two years of experience leading design projects.
  • Experience designing native-first app experiences.
