- An MD or DO degree from an accredited institution is required.
- A clear and unrestricted New York medical license, or eligibility to obtain one, is required.
- A DEA license, or eligibility to obtain one, is required.
- Successful completion of an accredited residency program is required.
- Surgeons, Family Medicine physicians, and Internal Medicine physicians are eligible; previous wound care experience is not required because comprehensive specialty training is provided.
- Lead wound care initiatives within skilled nursing facilities throughout Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs.
- Perform surgical debridement and other bedside procedures.
- Use advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols.
- Collaborate in post-acute care.
- Manage patient outcomes based on clinical judgment.
Skilled Wound Care is a physician-led provider of wound-care services for skilled nursing and long-term-care facilities. Clinicians deliver bedside assessment and treatment while collaborating with facility teams on documentation, prevention, and follow-up. The organization also trains and supports physicians building specialized wound-care practices. The provider brings specialist physicians into post-acute facilities and integrates recurring rounds, bedside treatment, care-team communication, clinical documentation, prevention, supply decisions, and education intended to improve healing and reduce avoidable escalation.
