- Knowledge of fiber and copper test equipment, including Visual Fault Locator, fiber-optic power meters, CAT5E/CAT6 testers, OTDR, and T-BERD.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visual Basic.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry 50 pounds.
- Willingness to relocate to Charleston, South Carolina.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance at the Secret level with Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. passport.
- A driver's license is required.
- Willingness to drive overseas, including in countries where vehicles drive on the left side of the road.
- Upgrade wide area network equipment and fiber infrastructure at remote Continental United States and Outside Continental United States locations.
- Design and implement cable infrastructure for data centers and outside-plant fiber.
- Work with network engineers to establish Layer 1 through Layer 3 connectivity.
- Install routers, switches, encryptors, and patch panels in racks.
- Perform inside-plant fiber installation, including data center fiber installation and telecom-room-to-telecom-room fiber installation.
- Perform outside-plant fiber installation, including building-to-building fiber installation through manholes and handholes.
- Work with the node site coordinator to extend wide area network circuits to routers.
- Coordinate with remote site points of contact to plan, design, and schedule equipment and infrastructure installation.
- Coordinate with remote Communications Security custodians to ensure the correct key material is ordered before installation and work with local Communications Security custodians to send the appropriate Communications Security device to the site.
- Create cable diagrams before installation and update them after installation is complete.
- At least six years of experience installing routers, cryptographic devices, circuit activations, and fiber infrastructure.
- At least six years of experience performing fusion splicing, including splice-on connectors, loose-tube fiber, ribbon fiber, and splice-tray organization.
- Experience working with Defense Information Systems Agency Telecommunications Service Orders.
- Prior military service or experience contracting with a government agency.
- Experience troubleshooting network issues in a wide area network environment with network engineers to determine whether an issue is physical at Layer 1 or logical at Layers 2 through 3.
- Experience troubleshooting cryptographic devices, including correct key material, IP addresses, Security Association tunnels, and route information.
