Requirements
  • A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school is required.
  • A valid registered license is required for Symbria’s operating states, or the ability to obtain a license or compact license for assignments in any designated state.
  • Candidates using a compact license must have a full license in their state of residence.
  • Candidates must understand communication disorders resulting from neurological impairments.
  • Candidates must have observation, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and basic math skills.
  • Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Candidates must have effective interpersonal skills with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Candidates must be proficient with computers and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Candidates must be available and willing to travel to any location where Symbria provides contracted therapy services.
  • Candidates must provide their own transportation between patient visits and travel assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate physician referrals and patient medical records to determine the required speech-language therapy program.
  • Evaluate each patient’s current level of functioning using approved speech-language and swallowing evaluation techniques, tests, and observations, and prepare a written treatment program based on the evaluations.
  • Administer prescribed speech therapy programs to restore and maintain maximum function and prevent disability using a range of therapeutic modalities.
  • Coordinate speech therapy services and information presented at interdisciplinary team conferences with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing departments.
  • Assist in formulating policies and operating procedures necessary for effective operation of the speech program in conjunction with other community programs.
  • Develop program goals, assess the need for clinical equipment and supplies, and participate in community budget planning and preparation.
  • Assume primary responsibility for managing and documenting patient and client programs according to American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Standards of Care.
  • Monitor productivity and speech-language staffing needs.
  • Complete and timely submit all required clinical and billing documentation.
  • Adhere to Symbria Rehab’s mission, Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain productivity standards.
  • Adhere to the terms and conditions of the travel assignment contract.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • The Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is preferred but not required.
