Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education is required, along with the ability to read, write, communicate clearly in English, and perform basic math computations associated with heavy highway construction projects.
  • At least 10 years of construction management or construction inspection experience is required.
  • NICET Level IV certification in Transportation/Highway Construction or a Pennsylvania Professional Engineer license is required.
  • NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician certification is required.
  • ACI/PennDOT Asphalt Certification is required.
  • PennDOT Concrete Certification is required.
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Adobe or Bluebeam is required.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand; lift and carry up to 10 pounds; wear required personal protective equipment; react to hazardous warnings and signals; occasionally perform manual labor; occasionally work in adverse weather conditions; and tolerate limited exposure to chemicals.
  • The employee must be able to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and the contractor’s health and safety plan.
  • Verify that delivered materials conform to contract documents and check contractor layout accuracy.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with company and owner requirements.
  • Review and route submittals and requests for information electronically.
  • Maintain records of completed quantities for contractor payment.
  • Process change orders.
  • Oversee construction inspection staff and provide direction and mentoring to less experienced staff.
  • Consult with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, construction methods, practices, and safety precautions.
  • Maintain progress schedules and records of material quantities and costs.
  • Check contractors’ quotations for variations, prepare periodic progress payment claims, and recommend payment.
