Requirements
  • A university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five years of experience managing IT operations and leading an IT team.
  • Knowledge of computing software and hardware, networks, telephony, and multimedia equipment.
  • Knowledge of best practices related to IT service management.
  • Knowledge of the University's hardware, software, peripherals, security guidelines, and standards.
  • Knowledge of the University's business operations and priorities.
  • Experience negotiating, implementing, and monitoring service-level agreements.
  • Experience planning and managing IT projects and related budgets.
  • Experience in human resources management, including hiring, supervising, coaching, and managing performance.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to keep abreast of new and emerging technologies.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English, spoken and written.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a group of IT professionals providing computing and network support services.
  • Plan, organize, control, and evaluate operations, and establish plans, procedures, and service standards for network services.
  • Ensure the team has the human, financial, and technical resources required to deliver and support efficient network services.
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for the short- and long-term planning, evaluation, and overall maintenance of information systems within the assigned faculty or service.
  • Perform short- and long-term strategic planning for the IT assets of the assigned service.
  • Analyze service needs, prepare budget requirements, and recommend future replacements and upgrades for IT network resources.
  • Supervise technical services staff and other IT professionals by facilitating and tracking project status, identifying problems, allocating resources, and ensuring services are completed on schedule and to a high quality standard.
  • Recruit, mentor, train, develop, manage, and evaluate staff.
  • Provide planning, leadership, direction, and advanced technical expertise for computing, network, and technical services.
  • Act as a second-level escalation point for complex technical issues and guide timely resolution.
  • Assess problem severity and determine risks and impacts on the faculty, service, or University.
  • Develop solutions for complex problems using technical documentation, procedures, prior knowledge, and expertise.
  • Ensure the confidentiality, security, and accessibility of institutional data.
  • Comply with and promote controls, information security and privacy policies, and related standards.
