Requirements
  • A Ph.D. in Geochemistry, Geology, Oceanography, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • A demonstrated record of scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications is required.
  • Experience conducting laboratory-based geochemical research is required.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative research team is required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day research activities associated with the project.
  • Operate and maintain geochemical instrumentation and laboratory facilities.
  • Conduct sample preparation and geochemical analyses.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
  • Assist with laboratory management, data quality control, laboratory safety, and project coordination.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary collaborations across the University of Miami and partner institutions internationally.
  • Contribute to and potentially lead manuscript preparation, publication of research results, and scientific presentations.
  • Support and, where appropriate, co-lead grant proposal development in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
  • Participate in approximately two major international field campaigns, each lasting approximately three weeks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting Gas Bench and Elemental Analyzer-Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry systems.
  • Experience with stable isotope geochemistry and potentially method development.
  • Prior supervision or mentoring of students.
  • Prior field experience.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and scientific programming, such as R.
