Job Description
As Conference & Events Assistant Manager, you will play a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of our Conference & Events department while supporting the wider Food & Beverage team as required.
- Support the Conference & Events Operations Manager in the daily leadership and coordination of conference, banquet and event operations
- Lead event service teams to deliver exceptional experiences across meetings, conferences, weddings, social events and gala functions
- Ensure events are executed seamlessly, with a strong focus on service standards, timing and attention to detail
- Act as a hands-on leader, providing guidance, support and coaching to team members throughout service
- Assist with team rostering, training, performance management and development
- Build strong relationships with clients, guests and internal stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery
- Conduct event briefings and ensure all operational details are communicated clearly to the team
- Monitor service delivery and proactively resolve issues to ensure an exceptional guest experience
- Support food and beverage operations across the hotel, including restaurant, bar and in-room dining outlets as required
- Assist in maintaining labour, productivity and operational targets
- Uphold all food safety, workplace health and safety, and responsible service requirements
- Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture
Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience within Conference & Events, Banquets, Food & Beverage or hotel operations
- Strong operational knowledge across conference, events and food & beverage environments
- A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- A hands-on leadership style and willingness to support operationally wherever required
- Sound understanding of food and beverage service standards and event execution
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with exceptional attention to detail
- A current RSA Certificate
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
