- The applicant must be a Certified Nursing Aide in good standing with the certification board, or a graduate of a state-approved nursing assistant training program who passes a state-approved written and skills competency examination within 120 days of employment.
- The applicant must be able to express themselves adequately in written and oral communication and communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff members.
- Provide supportive services to nurses and other staff as needed and perform assigned duties.
- Assist residents with, or perform for residents, activities of daily living in accordance with care plans and established policies and procedures.
- Assist residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transportation into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, and lifts.
- Coordinate dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including setup and cleanup, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
- Deliver nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provide assistance as necessary to ensure intake, documenting intake accordingly.
- Assist with weighing residents according to facility policy, record weights in designated locations, and report weight changes to the nurse and supervisor.
- Assist with tracking residents’ skin condition and report pressure areas, skin breakdown, or skin tears to the nurse and supervisor.
- Assist nursing staff in carrying out toileting program activities.
- Complete daily flow sheets indicating that specified tasks were performed and document each resident’s progress as directed by the supervisor.
- Keep the nurse and supervisor informed of factors that interfere with performing assigned work, such as resident refusal or reassignment to a nursing unit.
- Report changes in a resident’s condition to the resident’s nurse and supervisor.
- A high school diploma or General Educational Development credential is preferred.
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation or basic life support certification is preferred.
- At least one year of experience as a certified nursing assistant in long-term care is preferred.
