  • A bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • One year of previous high school, collegiate, or higher-level coaching and playing experience is required.
  • General knowledge of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and National Collegiate Athletic Association rules is required.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs is required.
  • The candidate must be able to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Oral and written communication skills are required.
  • The candidate must be able to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
  • The candidate must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • The candidate must have a State of Texas or Arkansas Class C vehicle operator's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • The candidate must have an acceptable driving record and periodically complete a van safety course.
  • The candidate must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • The candidate must be able to work in all weather conditions, tolerate high noise levels, stand throughout the day, use a loud voice at practices and events, and participate physically in practices and workouts with players.
  • The candidate must complete Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act training as a condition of employment if handling protected health information.
  • Employment is contingent upon a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials and other required information.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach and staff with routine administrative responsibilities and management of the women's volleyball team.
  • Coach under the direction of the head coach by providing instruction, demonstrations, and teaching of the sport's dynamics to student-athletes.
  • Recruit and scout prospective student-athletes from high schools, junior colleges, and community colleges.
  • Make recommendations to the head coach regarding the potential of student-athletes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics guidelines and maintain accurate rosters and other athletic department information.
  • Report violations of established National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics rules to the proper officials.
  • Assist the head coach with coordinating team travel, arranging the competitive schedule, organizing and scheduling practices, and maintaining recruiting databases and opponent files.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining a comprehensive public relations program.
  • Assist in managing sport camps and clinics.
  • Assist in managing volleyball department fundraising and booster events in accordance with applicable rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish and enforce rules concerning student-athlete conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality, and related areas.
  • Transport athletes to and from athletic events, including driving a full-size passenger van or other large-capacity vehicle when necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
