You will be a member of the technology and product development team within the Acute Care and Monitoring (ACM) business. Specifically, you will join a high growth R&D team, dedicated to creating category redefining products for airway management. Our team originated from Medtronic’s acquisition of Aircraft Medical, which created the McGrath Mac Video Laryngoscope (see photo). The team is designer-led and follows a human-centered design process to deliver thoughtful and inspiring products that truly address unmet costumer needs.
You will work in a cooperative workspace with key, cross functional partners. Every day, you’ll be rubbing elbows with designer, design researchers, clinical scientists, marketers, engineers with multiple disciplines and manufacturing experts all with a “can do, will do” spirit.

A Day in the Life
This position applies technical expertise combining software and hardware in solving complex technical problems and provides solutions that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Work is performed in a team setting with the guidance of a principal software lead. The role will collaborate with cross-function team members including software, hardware, mechanical and systems engineers.
Responsibilities Include:
- Work with the software lead to define project goals and deliverables
- Responsible for successfully delivering on project objectives and milestones
- Creative problem solving and working through complexity with a wider team
- Use best-practices to create maintainable and scalable code and be able to communicate concepts to team members
- Generate Deliverables (including documentation) to support IEC 62304, ISO14971 and ISO13485 requirements
- Assist the effort to elicit and create software requirements
- Participate in the design of software validation tests and execution of same
- Ensure the timely creation and execution of unit tests, integration tests and code reviews
- Focus on software reliability with the appropriate level or design and test activities
- Creation of new and maintenance of existing custom software tools
- Gathering of tool requirements
- Development of scalable architecture
- Validation and deployment
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree and background in Software/Computer/Electrical Engineering
Must Have: Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong C and C++ knowledge/experience
- Demonstrated ability to quickly interpret an extensive variety of technical information and find resolution to an issue quickly.
- Experience with software development for embedded systems
- Understanding of version control systems and configuration management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn and apply new technology in areas of responsibility.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with real-time software on a microprocessor- based system and developing software in Linux environment
- Experience embedded graphics programming libraries (such as LVGL, GTK3, or QT)
- Experience with driver development or maintenance
- Experience with software development in a highly regulated environment (like medical devices/defense/aviation etc.)
- Experience with microprocessor, microcontroller architectures and assembly language.
- Experience with python and shell scripting
- Experience with communication interfaces such as serial, USB, I2C, SPI

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$95,200.00 - $142,800.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
