UES has an opening for a Geotechnical Staff Engineer in our Geotechnical Department at our Chattanooga, TN office. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Formulation of design basis methodology and performance of hand/software calculations
- Assisting Senior Engineers with project execution, proposal, and report preparation
- Execution smaller projects to gain experience in project management.
- Interpret field data and assign laboratory testing.
- Interact with CAD staff on design details and plan notes.
- Communicate results of engineering analysis, calculations, plans, and recommendations to clients
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- In addition to an office setting the candidate may be exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments.
- Occasionally, some weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
- Occasionally, may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in civil engineering or related field with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
- Engineering in Training (EIT) or ability to pass FE exam within 6 months of employment.
- Familiarity with modern office tools including the use of computer-based programs Microsoft Office, Excel, etc. Any experience with programs such as gINT, Slide 2 (Rocscience), Settle3 (Rocscience), AutoCAD, APILE, LPILE, GROUP is a plus.
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure in Tennessee within 4 years of employment.
- Possession of a valid Tennessee driver license and an acceptable driving record
