Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (candidates can substitute one year of experience for each year of education)
  • 5+ years of professional experience, with a strong preference for backgrounds in utilities, energy efficiency, or commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
  • Must be based in New Jersey
Responsibilities
  • Develop partnerships with utility customers, including property management firms, commercial real estate associations and housing authorities
  • Coordinate with Implementation teams and utility account managers on prospect lists and project pipeline creation
  • Identify and cultivate potential clients through proactive outreach, cold calling, and leveraging networking opportunities
  • Provide regular feedback to internal teams on market trends, customer needs, and project development opportunities
  • Educate potential participants on program offerings
  • Drive the sales process from initial engagement through closing, ensuring a clear mutual action plan is in place at every stage
  • Ability to understand and discuss complex financial matters
  • Position yourself as a trusted advisor, helping customers navigate the complexities of the available utility programs and maximizing the value of existing offerings
  • Develop and present customized energy efficiency solutions, showcasing how available utility offerings can address specific pain points and improve operational efficiency
  • Address customers concerns and objections, with a focus on closing sales and achieving revenue goals
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and other events to promote and represent the program offerings
  • Stay informed on industry news, updates, and trends
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets, accurately forecasting sales activities and outcomes
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all sales activities in the CRM, ensuring data integrity and consistency across the sales pipeline
  • Develop & deliver compelling PowerPoint presentations that provide an overview on the Program(s) to senior stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience and knowledge of Commercial Energy efficiency in NJ
  • Experience in the energy industry (retail gas and/or electricity, sustainability, solar, demand response, etc.)
  • Experience in B2B outside sales
  • Experience working in or managing a trade ally/service provider network
  • Certified Energy Manager or BPI credentials
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
