Responsibilities
  • Planning: Selection of camp topics aligning with academic majors/minors and college readiness as much as possible.
  • Planning: Identification of potential new topics.
  • Planning: Coordination of curriculum development for new topics, working with faculty and students, working within budget.
  • Planning: Scheduling of camp sessions.
  • Planning: Hiring of instructors, lead counselors, and counselors.
  • Planning: Scheduling of camp staff.
  • Planning: Coordination of room reservations, registration intake forms, and supply orders.
  • Planning: Ensure youth compliance for camps according to Penn State policies.
  • Planning: Train camp staff including general orientation as well as classroom management/inclusive classroom practices skills.
  • Planning: Communicate with parents during registration process.
  • Planning: Meet with and maintain relationships with key campus partners (police department, catering, IT, etc.).
  • Planning: Support marketing efforts.
  • Onsite Administration: Day-to-day administration of camps.
  • Onsite Administration: Ensure youth compliance procedures including staff ratios.
  • Onsite Administration: Oversee pick-up and drop-off of campers.
  • Onsite Administration: Manage communication with parents.
  • Onsite Administration: Manage camp staff
  • Onsite Administration: Ensure communication with all staff
  • Onsite Administration: Manage disciplinary issues that may arise with campers.
  • Onsite Administration: Manage communication with key campus partners.
  • Onsite Administration: Oversee camper special circumstances such as medical, behavioral, etc.
  • Additional Support: Responsible for managing and answering Penn State Abington email for camp related concerns and inquiry’s.
  • Additional Support: Oversee and manage other youth programsas needed after the camp session has ended.
  • Additional Support: Attend events as needed, at least once a month, to promote and network our Summer Camps and professional development programs.
  • Additional Support: Search for and write grant proposal that can benefit our camps and help reduce camp costs.
  • Additional Support: Complete small changes on the summer camp website.
