Requirements
  • Education equivalent to completion of high school and completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification and current, unencumbered membership with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Satisfy State of Georgia, The Joint Commission, and federal requirements, or the equivalent thereof.
  • Use standard radiology equipment, including X-ray, mammography, and/or dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform radiologic testing and treatment in accordance with The Joint Commission, federal, state, and local guidelines and organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ensure adherence to infection-control, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and safety standards.
  • Comply with established safety precautions at all times.
  • Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of patient care plans, and patient assessments as necessary.
  • Interview patients or family members as necessary.
  • Complete administrative requirements, including necessary forms, reports, and data input, as directed.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of patients traveling to and from the Radiology Department.
  • Coordinate radiology examinations with other departments.
  • Perform radiology examinations in patients' rooms, the emergency department, or the operating room as necessary.
  • Brief patients or family members on radiology procedures and prepare the necessary equipment.
  • Maintain a current file of patients treated on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
  • Act as receptionist for patients in the Radiology Department.
  • Maintain treatment records, patient files, and progress notes as required.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Radiology Manager.
  • Ensure that the Business Office receives charges for radiology examinations rendered to patients.
  • Maintain the department in a clean and safe manner for patient comfort and convenience.
  • Reassure patients before and during radiology examinations.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by dressing and positioning them, and administer radiology examinations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Safely produce radiographs while adhering to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable principle.
  • Assist with distribution of transcribed radiology reports.
  • Act as a preceptor for new team members.
  • Participate in patient education, including education for family members when appropriate.
  • Participate in continuing education.
  • Perform other assigned, needed, or required duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Six months to one year of experience in healthcare radiology is preferred.
