Responsibilities
  • Support nursing clinical practice, budgetary personnel activities, regulatory activities associated with the clinical department, and professional development coordination assistance.
  • Assure compliance with directives, policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Develop and initiate improvements in the organization and delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Supervise staff and participate in the recruitment, interview, and selection process of candidates.
  • Coordinate training and orientation programs for nursing and other clinical staff.
  • Plan and conduct in-service and other informational meetings with employees.
  • Monitor performance, evaluate job competencies, provide feedback, and assess ongoing training needs.
  • Schedule employees and manage resources on a daily basis.
  • Act as a liaison with internal and external groups and entities.
  • Evaluate operations and recommend and implement changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in the development, organization, and implementation of programs focused on the professional growth, development, and competency of ambulatory nursing and nursing supportive roles.
  • Assist the professional development supervisor with orientation, onboarding, ongoing competency evaluation, and integration of new employees, including database management.
  • Maintain current clinical and administrative knowledge through professional and educational activities.
  • Support organizational and site-specific efforts for service excellence, financial accountability, quality improvement, and patient safety.
  • Maintain documentation for fiscal impact tracing.
  • Collaborate with the Ambulatory Nursing Leadership team to support department goals and the Geisinger Nursing system strategic plan.
  • Serve as a role model in professional practice through relationships with staff and other departments, effective communication, resource utilization, and planning.
  • Support Magnet philosophies, including a healthy work environment, professional growth, and patient and family involvement in care decisions.
  • Serve as a clinical resource by assisting nursing personnel with identified patient and family needs, obtaining equipment and patient care items, and answering questions and solving problems within the department and institution.
  • Perform all clinical duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse.
