The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to hire a part-time educational program specialist to assist and support education abroad programs for summer customized programs.
This position will assist the faculty/program leader for a Penn State Education Abroad program and will serve as an official representative of Penn State for the duration of the education abroad program. Duties include some or all of the following: recruiting Penn State students, accompanying students abroad, communicating with students, assisting in delivering pre-departure orientation and supporting the faculty leader ‘on site’ in managing student conduct and adhering to Penn State Risk Management policy and procedure.
Some Program Assistants will also be asked to assume teaching as well as program budget responsibilities. Programs range in length from two to ten weeks and work with groups of eight to forty students. The Penn State Program Assistant must attend workshops for training in risk management and budget management; optional training on topics such as student conduct will be available for program assistants. Program Assistants must uphold Penn State education abroad program leader responsibilities as outlined by Education Abroad and must enforce Penn State policies while abroad. Familiarity with the destination and foreign language is preferred.
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
