Requirements
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire system, and electrical issues.
  • Understand the products and tools used within the department.
  • Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing qualifications are preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in a public-contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
  • Ability to enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments.
  • Ability to work independently and partner with others to promote teamwork.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of hotel and residential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, fire safety systems, and building automation systems.
  • Ensure the property meets all safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and reduce equipment-failure risk.
  • Lead, train, and mentor engineers and maintenance staff while ensuring high standards of performance, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Create staff schedules and assign tasks to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and ensure continuous professional development.
  • Develop and manage the engineering department's annual budget within budgetary constraints.
  • Monitor energy usage, implement energy-saving initiatives, and ensure sustainability practices are in place.
  • Approve and track expenditures for equipment, materials, and repairs.
  • Ensure engineering work does not interfere with the guest or resident experience.
  • Respond to guest and resident complaints or service requests related to engineering matters.
  • Coordinate with other hotel departments to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building maintenance, safety, and health regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and rectify hazards.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures for the engineering department.
  • Lead and manage renovation projects, repairs, and new installations to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized projects and services.
  • Manage engineering documentation, including contracts, service records, and inspection reports.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technology advancements to improve facility operations and guest experiences.
  • Implement maintenance and sustainability best practices to improve the hotel's operational efficiency.
