Requirements
  • DVM/Veterinary Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (VMD) from an AVMA accredited school or equivalent with experience working with agricultural animals and wildlife.
  • Experience working with agricultural animals and wildlife.
  • Must obtain a Pennsylvania veterinary license within 1 year.
  • USDA category II veterinary accreditation within 1 year.
  • The position requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle as part of job duties.
  • A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.
  • Background checks include PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal FBI Fingerprint Criminal Check.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical veterinary care of agricultural animals and wildlife.
  • Provide oversight of private practitioners caring for the University’s agricultural animals.
  • Perform disease surveillance and oversee biosecurity.
  • Collaborate with investigators on grants and research contracts.
  • Review protocols as a member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
  • Assist with compliance and administrative offices such as the Office for Research Protections, Environmental Health and Safety, Office of Physical Plant, Occupational Health and Safety, and others as necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • Board certification in a related veterinary specialty is preferred.
