Position Description
The McGill University Department of Global and Public Health (DGPH) within the School of Population and Global Health (SPGH) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in the field of Public Health and Global Health.
The Department of Global and Public Health is one of the three departments within the School of Population and Global Health at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. Our dedicated team of experts involved in diverse academic activities and translational research are committed to addressing health inequities and advance public health, locally, nationally, and globally, through action-oriented research, interdisciplinary training, allyship and equitable partnerships. Job Duties
The successful candidate will play an important role in building a vibrant new department and leading research programs in any of the priority areas identified for the Department of Global and Public Health. The incumbent will be expected to be involved in the academic activities of the Department, supporting its educational, research, and service activities.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong track record in research in any of the following priority areas:
1. Climate crisis, climate justice, planetary health and mental health impacts of climate change;
2. Global health inequities and social determinants of health;
3. Intersections and syndemics between non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs) and infectious diseases.
The successful candidate will be expected to build a dynamic and independent research program, seeking external salary and operating funds to support research activities. The incumbent will be expected to have the potential to innovate in Public and Global Health education; they are also expected to have the ability to develop meaningful and productive relationships with other researchers, and with population and global health organizations to support and enhance public health research and training.
The successful candidate will be expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students and teach courses within the SPGH in the undergraduate program in Population and Global Health and the graduate MScPH program in Public Health. The BA Arts in Population and Global Health is expected to be launched soon. The successful candidate will also play a key role in the new undergraduate education program.
The incumbent will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:
Have a PhD or DrPH in Public Health or Global Health, or equivalent. MD candidates with MPH are encouraged to apply;
Possess the ability to lead research of the highest international standards in alignment with the research priorities of the DGPH;
Have proven track record of research productivity demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications;
Have relevant teaching experience in Global and Public Health with a demonstrated commitment to high-quality teaching, inclusive pedagogy, and effective supervision;
Research and scholarship that is conducted in under-resourced settings and/or in partnership with marginalized or vulnerable populations is also desirable;
Fluency in English is essential; a working knowledge of French, or a commitment to acquiring it within a few years of appointment is preferred.
