Requirements
  • Able to read blueprints and mechanical drawings and follow directions from manuals.
  • Able to interpret work orders and complete them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read and record written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • May be required to work around energized, moving, or rotating production equipment.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Completion of a welding or sheet metal fabrication training program or 7-10 years of experience in a custom fabrication role.
Responsibilities
  • Repair or fabricate replacements for existing parts or assemblies and design and build custom parts and assemblies.
  • Work well with others and foster a team atmosphere.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Comply with all safety, food safety, and good manufacturing practice protocols.
  • Dismantle equipment, remove defective parts, perform repairs or fabricate replacement parts, and reassemble equipment without supervision.
  • Suggest improvements to replacement-part substitutes.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and electric arc welds in repairs or fabrications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and manual repair equipment.
  • Design and fabricate custom components using stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, brass, copper, plastic, and rubber.
  • Use shop equipment including saws, shears, grinders, drill presses, brakes, acetylene torches, plasma cutters, and welders.
  • Create drawings for parts or assemblies as needed.
  • Communicate with departmental and plant supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
