Requirements
  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
  • A driver license and reliable vehicle are required.
  • Willingness to complete site visits and travel to the office in inclement weather is required.
  • Experience in gas and/or electric design services or with residential, commercial, or industrial properties is a plus.
  • Proficiency using design software, specifically MicroStation, with a strong understanding of design principles and best practices is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle a high workload, managing up to 20 projects concurrently are required.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to gas and electric design services is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Utilize MicroStation to create accurate and detailed designs for gas and electric systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
  • Collaborate with builders to understand project requirements and communicate design specifications and progress updates.
  • Document and communicate project updates weekly to internal team members.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure project execution.
  • Create site plans, determine meter locations, and evaluate routes according to regulatory standards, industry best practices, and We Energies guidelines.
  • Meet with We Energies customers onsite to determine equipment and utility locations.
  • Provide quantities and develop cost estimates for gas and/or electric installations.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and high-quality deliverables are produced.
  • Evaluate electric and gas loads to determine proper service and meter size.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify potential design issues or improvements and propose solutions.
  • Assist in developing and improving design processes, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to gas and electric design services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Secondary education in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with builders, stakeholders, and team members.
  • A detail-oriented approach focused on producing accurate and error-free designs.
  • A patient and adaptable approach to problem-solving and navigating changes in project requirements.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and discuss design options professionally.
  • A self-motivated and proactive attitude with a strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
