Job Description

The Department of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon who has completed an SSO-certified Breast or Surgical Oncology fellowship to join the Division of Surgical Oncology, HPB, and Endocrine Surgery in the Section of Breast and Endocrine Surgery.  This 100% breast practice is ideal for an individual who looks to join a robust NAPBC-accredited multi-disciplinary breast program at the NCI-designated Hollings Cancer Center. The qualified surgeon will join a group comprised of 4 surgeons, 4 advanced care providers, and 1 RO-1 funded breast researcher.  The practice currently provides comprehensive breast care across the tri-county area including MUSC Health in Charleston (Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC, West Ashley Medical Pavilion Breast Center, MUSC East Cooper) with additional practice opportunities at the MUSC Health H.F. Mabry Cancer Center in Orangeburg, SC. 

The Comprehensive Breast Program hosts a weekly tumor board attended by all members of the multi-disciplinary team who are also breast specialty focused (mammography, pathology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgery, advanced care providers, genetics, clinical trials, nurse navigators, nurse intake specialists, fellows, residents and students). Surgery is performed at the downtown campus with inpatient coverage provided by a general surgery resident team dedicated to the breast service. No requirement for general surgery call coverage.

An interest in academic medicine with a desire to conduct research and participate in clinical trial enrollment is preferred.  Position is open to all ranks with opportunities for leadership positions at MUSC.
