Requirements
  • This is an entry-level student position.
  • The student must work a minimum of 80 hours during the semester.
  • The student must enroll concurrently in CVL 401: Integrated Internship Experience and successfully complete the course.
  • The student must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The student must demonstrate attention to detail, active listening, written and verbal communication, and customer focus.
  • The student must be willing to learn new things.
  • The student must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform keyboarding, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of audio/visual and information technology equipment for campus events under the direction of IT staff or event supervisors.
  • Monitor audio/visual equipment during live events, including microphones, projectors, sound systems, and other audio/visual accessories, and notify IT staff of issues.
  • Provide basic on-site event support by assisting event staff and participants with routine technology needs and referring technical issues to IT staff or supervisors when additional assistance is needed.
  • Communicate with event staff, faculty, and IT supervisors regarding event needs, schedules, equipment requests, and issues, with guidance from assigned supervisors.
  • Assist with inventory, equipment maintenance, and storage by organizing, transporting, cleaning, and properly storing equipment according to established procedures.
  • Follow established safety and equipment-handling procedures and seek assistance from supervisors when unsure about procedures or equipment use.
  • Represent the university professionally when interacting with event guests, participants, faculty, staff, and other campus-community members.
  • Learn and follow established IT and event-support procedures while developing familiarity with audio/visual equipment, event technology, and customer-service practices.
  • Work as part of the event-support team by completing assigned tasks, following supervisor direction, and communicating questions or concerns as needed.
