Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Music Technology, Sound Engineering, Audio Production, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in live sound, event production, or technical direction within a music or performance-based environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Regularly required to travel in local area and on campus (per essential function).
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison, leading communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all production needs are met.
  • Oversee and direct all aspects of production logistics, including strategic planning, scheduling, crew assignments, and hands-on training for all non-academic production staff and student workers.
  • Provide expert-level technical support and lead the troubleshooting for all School of Music production-related software, equipment, and technologies.
  • Manage the technical execution of all productions, proactively anticipating and addressing the needs of clients and stakeholders to ensure seamless, professional outcomes.
  • Direct all technical equipment management, including oversight of usage, maintenance, inventory, and strategic future purchases to ensure the School of Music remains equipped with cutting-edge technology.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and records for all production systems, student worker training, and protocols, ensuring clarity and consistency across the team.
  • Coordinate the creation of high-quality audio and visual media content related to production needs, as assigned.
  • Manage the timely acquisition and distribution of event recordings and other media assets to clients.
  • Fulfill crew roles in production as needed for nights and weekends to ensure operational success.
  • Serve as an approved driver to transport equipment or the travel team, as assigned.
  • Stay informed about emerging industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and strategically recommend new resources to administration.
  • Lead the coordination and use of LU vehicles and trailers for School of Music productions and events.

  • Master of Arts or Master of Science degree in a relevant field such as Music Technology, Audio Engineering, Arts Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in live sound or technical direction within a music or performance-based environment.
