Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or technical diploma in an engineering-related field such as electrical engineering, automation, or robotics.
  • Zero to five years of relevant experience programming industrial equipment and automation systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Siemens or Allen-Bradley programmable logic controller and human-machine interface programming platforms, including Step7, WinCC, TIA Portal, Studio 5000, or FTView ME.
  • Knowledge of industrial robot programming platforms such as Kuka, Fanuc, or ABB is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Siemens or Allen-Bradley programmable logic controller, human-machine interface, and drive product families is an asset.
  • Knowledge of variable-frequency drives is an asset.
  • Knowledge of industrial computer network architecture and communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Profinet/Profisafe, and Profibus.
  • Knowledge of low-voltage electrical distribution equipment up to 600V.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical drawings and AutoCAD or EPLAN is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze application requirements for various automation technologies used to control industrial systems.
  • Program programmable logic controllers, robot controllers, variable-frequency drives, and human-machine interfaces for standard or lower-complexity systems.
  • Serve as the technical lead for the automation and robotics scope of assigned projects.
  • Ensure system integrity during commissioning.
  • Ensure correct parameterization, operation, and optimization of sequences for all system components.
  • Ensure communication and data exchanges with partner software and controllers.
  • Ensure that all machine safety functions operate correctly.
  • Participate in system troubleshooting as needed.
  • Ensure the compliance of documentation and electrical drawings.
  • Execute final procedures and tests for systems.
  • Interpret and understand electrical drawings to perform minor troubleshooting in accordance with the drawings.
  • Participate in electrical drawing reviews and as-built modifications.
  • Communicate with team members about issues related to system automation and participate in periodic meetings and internal design reviews.
  • Prepare technical documentation from standard documents and established processes in accordance with the process and customer requirements for automation.
  • Propose methods and tools to improve the team's overall performance.
  • Attend installation sites in other countries when required.
  • Understand applicable standards, including CSA, UL, CE, and machine-safety categories.
  • Provide automation training to external customers for assigned projects.
  • Support after-sales service with automation-related issues for standard or lower-complexity systems and other assigned projects.

Price-to-sales and price-to-operating-cash-flow multiples also exceed market averages at 3.7 and 22.3 respectively. Revenue has grown 10.2% annually over three years, outpacing the S&P 500's 5.9%. The 12-month backlog rose 11% whilst the multi-year backlog jumped 42%. Debt stands at a manageable 14.7% of market value. Operating cash flow reached approximately $2 billion over the past twelve months.

Forsee Power and Wabtec team up to electrify locomotives with advanced battery tech

Forsee Power, a smart battery systems specialist, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wabtec to integrate advanced battery systems into battery-electric locomotive platforms. Wabtec, which unveiled the world's first battery-electric freight locomotive in 2021, will collaborate with Forsee Power to enhance performance and reliability whilst optimising costs. Forsee Power's PULSE PLUS RAIL battery system, built on Toshiba's latest-generation LTO cells, offers up to 20 years lifespan, high-power output and voltage range up to 1,500 VDC. The system features advanced liquid thermal management for extreme temperatures and meets the highest safety standards. The partnership leverages Forsee Power's industrial presence in Ohio for Buy America compliance.
