  • Expertise in opto-mechanical design (SolidWorks) for developing Telecom and/or commercial laser products is preferred
  • Experience in material selection/specifications, relating to soldering, metallization, ceramics, epoxy, optical fiber and other components
  • Expertise in mechanical design of high precision fixture/tooling and manufacturing equipment
  • Expertise in drafting and geometrical tolerance and dimensioning, proficient in the use of SolidWorks
  • Expertise in performing structural and thermal finite element analysis (ANSYS preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills are needed to contribute effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with fiber optics is desirable
  • Education should be MS/PhD in mechanical engineering or equivalent with 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design
  • US citizenship or permanent residence desired as it allows greater program flexibility
Responsibilities
  • Opto-Mechanical design of fiber-optic pump packages and components
  • Mechanical design of fixture/tooling and equipment for fiber-optic component manufacturing
  • Generate conceptual design, layout, prototyping, bill of materials, piece part and assembly drawings
  • Working closely with optical, process and device engineers for design optimization
  • Interact with vendors for piece parts specification, procurement, and quality assurance
  • Select vendors and complete first article qualification
  • Perform component qualification and generate reports
  • Document engineering reports, engineering drawings, and equipment design specifications
