Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate the Community Learning Plan within University housing.
  • Serve as the main facilitator and curriculum developer for the Community Learning Plan.
  • Oversee Resident Assistants in planning, administering, executing, and assessing the Community Learning Plan within living areas.
  • Challenge students to initiate and develop healthy interpersonal relationships with peers.
  • Support and initiate Community Learning Plan goals, cultural diversity, and the University's mission for spiritual development.
  • Function autonomously or collaborate with tri- or co-Resident Directors based on the assigned living area.
  • Assist with room assignments and changes throughout the year and with resident check-in and check-out in cooperation with Housing Operations.
  • Supervise and manage the physical condition of the living area, communicating with residents and facilities to repair and maintain the building.
  • Assist with the health and safety of students and supervise Resident Assistants during health and safety inspections.
  • Assist with required fire drills throughout the year.
  • Serve on Residence Life committees, including Health and Safety, Athletics, Resident Assistant Training, Resident Assistant Selection, and Roommate Conflict Resolution.
  • Participate in the weekly on-call rotation for campus residents and alternate coverage of major holidays.
  • Assist in selecting new Resident Assistants in the spring.
  • Complete special duty assignments, such as assisting in the Residence Life Office and partnering with Student Conduct.
  • Be available to residents to discuss concerns and problems and refer them to appropriate departments and resources.
  • Provide guidance, support, and direction to Resident Assistants.
  • Maintain an attitude of discipleship and support students' spiritual growth.
  • Model behavior consistent with university standards of conduct and student lifestyle expectations.
  • Mediate roommate and suitemate conflicts to find resolution and compromise.
  • Meet regularly with supervisors, Resident Director peers, Resident Assistant staff, and individual Resident Assistants to discuss policies, procedures, programs, concerns, resident problems, discipline situations, and student development issues.
  • Understand and communicate the rationale for university regulations.
  • Assist with, confront, and intercede in disciplinary and emergency situations; provide relevant written and verbal behavioral data; and report or refer matters to supervisors and Student Conduct staff.
  • Support and comply with university regulations.
  • Serve as a resource and referral point for faculty, staff, parents, and other university constituents.
