Avionics Harness Design Engineer
As a Vehicle Harness Design Engineer, you will work with a small team on exciting and fast paced space programs. We are looking for talented individuals who can manage complex interfaces and are willing to innovate. In this role you will have opportunities to act as a design engineer, a test engineer, a manufacturing engineer, and a systems engineer for projects including the RS-1 vehicle. From proposal creation to designing schematics to working hands on in the harness lab to watching a rocket being built to the launch stool, you’ll have a hand in it all.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and track signal interconnections between components
- Generate harness schematic drawings in Microsoft Visio or Zuken E3
- Determine appropriate materials usage (e.g., connectors, backshells, contacts, etc.) and wire treatment (shielding, twisting, etc.) to apply per applicable mission requirements, industry standards
- Prepare harness assembly instructions to be used by harness assembly technicians
- Coordinate with harness assembly technicians during assembly process
- Plan and execute harness test procedures
- Coordinate with vehicle integration engineers during vehicle build and test
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar major
- 2+ years of experience electrical design, testing, and troubleshooting capabilities
- Familiarity with programming languages like Python, C or C++, MATLAB, etc
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with launch vehicle harnessing or avionics harnessing
- Ability to create/revise technical documents
- Experience with early launch vehicle engineering activities, integration and test, and launch operations
- Experience with automotive manufacturing or other high-production environments
- Ability to create detail-oriented designs while not losing sight of the higher-level design needs
- Must be versatile and able to perform and manage multiple tasks concurrently
The salary range for this role is $80,000-$130,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
