Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED with two years of drafting courses using AutoCAD and/or Revit and five years of drafter/designer experience.
  • Alternatively, certification in Computer Assisted Drafting from an accredited technology, vocational, or junior college with four years of drafter/designer experience.
  • Alternatively, a related bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with two years of drafter/designer experience.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • An aptitude for graphics and a proficient understanding of structural systems, graphical representation, drafting standards, Revit modeling best practices, BIM Level of Development 300, model cleanup, and worksets.
  • The ability to visualize and depict information in two and three dimensions.
  • The ability to meet required close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus-adjustment capabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Use Revit and AutoCAD to design and draft detailed models and drawings, including plans, details, schedules, notes, isometrics, elevations, and sections for preliminary, schematic, design development, construction, and record documents.
  • Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and engineering data from engineers and architects.
  • Develop final drawings from verbal instructions, rough sketches, marked-up drawings, design computations, engineering fundamentals, and the company detail library.
  • Prepare minor design calculations and apply engineering fundamentals.
  • Perform minor design of portions of routine projects under the direction of engineers.
  • Research discipline-related code issues and present interpretations.
  • Assist with client communication for specific projects and attend meetings with out-of-office clients.
  • Assist with construction cost estimates, reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and permits.
  • Coordinate models and drawings with those of other disciplines and resolve drafting and model-related coordination issues with designers and BIM coordinators.
  • Assist engineers and designers with document checking, quality control, and observations, measurements, images, and records of existing facilities or buildings during construction.
  • Create and edit plan views, drafting views, borders, schedules, general notes, foundation plans, floor and roof framing plans, framing elevations, sections, and complex wind load diagrams.
  • Comply with client-specific drafting standards, drawing presentation requirements, BRPH policies and procedures, and BIM standards.
  • Proof work to 98% accuracy before checking and maintain the discipline library and general office activities.
  • Train and mentor Drafter and Designer I staff.
  • Assist other disciplines with Designer II-level duties and accept cross-training assignments.
