Requirements
  • Experience of handling energy claims, or other relevant experience in insurance, including having worked previously as a claims broker, lawyer or loss adjuster.
  • Ability to understand and discuss common trends in claims and analyse the portfolio to assist in profitability of the portfolio.
  • Confidently analysing and interpreting data and presenting the same in internal meetings to help to enhance Markel’s underwriting capability.
  • Competently representing Markel in the management of market and broker meetings.
  • Understanding customer needs and actively soliciting and acting upon feedback, providing solutions to problems.
  • Ability to gain strong understanding of underwriting and claims business plans and how claims actions impact overall company performance.
  • Ability to take ownership for own development and achievement of goals, and actively help others to succeed while demonstrating and promoting inclusive behaviours and attitudes.
Responsibilities
  • Handling energy, liability and terror claims in accordance with Markel's philosophy and regulatory requirements, driving a customer-focused approach.
  • Working closely with the Claims Manager and Senior Adjusters in your team, the underwriting team and our external service providers and claims brokers.
  • Producing good quality and informative narratives and information on key claims and claims developments and analysing data to enhance underwriting capabilities.
  • Assisting underwriters with policy language development.
  • Interacting with placing and claims brokers to develop strong relationships and knowledge about the quality of our claims management at Markel.
  • Attending and presenting at underwriting meetings, learning about the class and developing relationships with key stakeholders in the claims handling process.
Desired Qualifications
  • Background and knowledge in energy claims (including renewables) and/or terror claims is preferred, but not essential.
  • You will have achieved ACII accreditation, or be working towards it.
