Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division is seeking a Software Engineer to become a member of the software applications team, working as part of an integrated and globally disperse team. The position requires a flexible work schedule driven by system and operational requirements and is located at a field site in Harrogate, United Kingdom.
This role requires a two (2) year commitment and the ability to successfully pass a psychological exam. Ability to work odd and/or extended hours covering a 24/7 period and periodic rotating 12-hour shifts.
A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered with this position including relocation assistance.
Essential Functions:
The software team in Harrogate requires individuals with software engineering experience who can work in a structured, configuration controlled, environment. There is a strong focus on the support and maintenance of real-time, mission-oriented software applications. Qualified candidates will be responsible for evaluating real-time operational software issues and providing immediate solutions. Responsibilities include the installation, integration and verification of new software baselines. Qualified candidates must be able to work independently in a dynamic, fast paced, global team environment.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Support, maintenance and documentation of real-time operational software
Development of software tools to complement software maintenance activities
Improvement, implementation and verification of software standards
Collaboration and support in a global environment
On-call 24/7 emergency anomaly response to support restoration of software operations
Effective communication with customer counterparts and other engineering disciplines
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline plus 2 years of engineering/technical experience OR a Master’s of Science Degree in a STEM discipline plus 0 years of engineering/technical experience
Proficiency in Perl or other scripting languages
Willingness to complete a two-year overseas tour
Willingness to complete a comprehensive physical and psychological examination and security/polygraph screening prior to beginning the assignment
Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance, SCI access and pass a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date
Preferred Qualifications

Languages: C++, Java, C#, Python
Technology and platforms: Red Hat Linux, VMS, Git, Atlassian Tool Suite
Security+ Certification
Experience with Agile methodologies and techniques, and continuous integration
Experience supporting real-time operational software
Experience working in a geographically diverse team and matrix organization
Software applications engineering experience on Atlantis, Rodeo, Rushmore, COAST or associated development contracts
Prior full lifecycle software development experience
Active Top Secret/SCI or DoD Top Secret with an SSBI and counterintelligence polygraph examination in the last five years
Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
