Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with and assist patients, employees, and the general public by phone and in person, provide accurate information or directions, and follow up to ensure needs are met.
  • Collect complete and accurate information from patients and callers, prioritize and facilitate communication with providers, and prepare schedules, medical records, and other documents according to quality standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality when communicating by phone or with providers and distributing patient information by email, fax, or other means.
  • Perform patient check-in, registration, and verification of demographic and fiscal information using medical center policies, procedures, and hospital computer systems.
  • Confirm prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications for patients' insurance and managed care plans; collect required co-payments and direct patients to the next service area.
  • Monitor patients and visitors entering, waiting, and leaving the practice, facilitate timely flow, proactively resolve flow issues, and liaise between patients and practice staff.
  • Process patient check-out, schedule follow-up appointments and related diagnostic or laboratory tests, provide relevant educational materials, and enter visit billing tickets.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate's degree is preferred.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare or service or hospitality environment is preferred.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
