  • The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting sophisticated flow cytometry instrumentation
  • Be responsible for daily instrument maintenance, calibration/QC, repairs, troubleshooting, training new users and operation of the flow analyzers, and other instrumentation in the lab
  • Optimize cytometer settings (adjust detector voltages/gains, compensate) and create data acquisition templates for novel assays and sample types
  • Hands-on experience designing, executing and analyzing multi-color flow cytometry experiments
  • Extensive experience in flow cytometry theory, applying conventional and spectral cytometry technology and analyzing data output
  • Possess a "power-user" level of understanding of FlowJo and FACSDiVa software
  • Experience using a small particle detector (SPD) is preferred
  • Create, standardize, and streamline flow cytometry-based approaches and data analysis
  • Assists in inventory of all reagents and supplies used in the flow cytometry laboratory
  • Advise users on experiment design, cytometer setup, data acquisition and analysis
  • Be willing and capable of serving as a subject matter expert on diverse flow cytometry projects; contribute flow cytometry expertise and technical guidance to cross-disciplinary teams
  • Train other users and serve as a mentor to junior scientists; a passion for teaching and mentorship a major plus
  • Review current flow cytometry literature and attend meetings/seminars for improved methodologies and quality control procedures
  • Strong and collaborative work ethic; must be a self-starter and persistent in achieving objectives to support Quidel's scientific and business goals
