  • One to two first-author papers with a journal impact factor greater than 5, or an equivalent contribution to other research or open-source outputs.
  • Depth in at least one agent framework, with working awareness across the listed agent-framework technologies.
  • Ability to author and operate Model Context Protocol servers, clients, and tools, including prompts, tools, and resources over JSON-RPC with OAuth 2.1 authorization.
  • Ability to build Agent2Agent-interoperable agents and awareness of emerging agent standards such as AG-UI, AGNTCY/OASF, and the MIT NANDA registry and discovery.
  • Knowledge of agent orchestration and control loops, including model-output parsing, tool dispatch, context-window management, stop conditions, budgets, safety boundaries, multi-agent topologies, checkpointing, human-in-the-loop control, and composable agent capabilities.
  • Knowledge of tracing, offline and online evaluation, LLM-as-judge evaluation, guardrails, red-teaming, and observability tooling.
  • Knowledge of agent identity and authorization, role-based access control, single sign-on, on-behalf-of token exchange, sandboxed execution, and private or secure LLM deployment patterns aligned with HIPAA and auditability.
  • Strong Python skills, version control, testing, continuous integration, reproducible evaluation harnesses, retrieval and context engineering, embeddings, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation, GraphRAG, cache-augmented generation, agentic RAG, and recursive language models.
Responsibilities
  • Lead computationally focused agentic-AI research and engineering projects with moderate supervision from the manager, provide input on analytical approaches, set up experiments, and develop new agentic methods with manager input.
  • Design and orchestrate agent systems, including agent hierarchies, tool use, handoffs, checkpointing, and human-in-the-loop control, over Office of Data Science data and tools.
  • Stand up and maintain Model Context Protocol servers and clients and Agent2Agent-interoperable agents that connect Office of Data Science assets under secure, auditable, HIPAA-aligned patterns.
  • Identify, process, organize, summarize, review, and report results, and instrument every agent with tracing, evaluations, and cost and latency budgets.
  • Draft manuscripts and technical reports and work through submission and internal review with manager input.
  • Instruct and guide other staff in agentic-AI techniques.
  • Mentor others in agentic-AI best practices and standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior applied machine-learning or agentic-AI research experience.
