The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist with a higher focus on environmental works with the Environmental Health and Safety Department to plan, direct, and implement Solenis’ s environmental health and safety programs and to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment. They are responsible for the compliance with all environmental and safety regulatory agencies. This position will focus on environmental compliance monitoring and preparing reports for the Charleston TN site. This position would also respond to emergency situations when they arise and will support EHS operations and staff to foster a zero-tolerance culture and ensure compliance.
Some of the things you will do will include:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and Solenis policies and procedures. Including, interacting with outside regulatory agencies for permitting and compliance purposes.
- Manage the implementation and maintenance of all EH&S programs and RC14001 compliance at the site.
- Identify all applicable environmental regulations and their impacts on the site and provide training to affected site personnel if warranted.
- Implement programs with operations, maintenance and site contractors to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations.
- Lead change associated with improving environmental performance under CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA and SARA regulations.
- Identify all applicable OSHA regulations and their impacts on the site and provide training to affected site personnel if warranted and implement programs to ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations.
- Lead change associated with improving safety and health performance under OSHA regulations.
This position will have on call responsibilities
Qualifications:
Education: BS Engineering and or Science, Chemistry, and or Occupational Safety, Health and Environment related fields of study or relevant experience.
Training: Strong knowledge of EHS regulations; OSHA, CAA, CWA, RCRA, SARA, TSCA, CERCLA and DOT, Solenis Corporate Policies and other specific regulations as needed.
Experience: 3-5 years EHS experience at plant level
Proficiencies:
Strong communication, computer, leadership, people development and decision-making skills, willingness to learn, flexibility to adjust to changing situations, good organization skills with the ability to handle a variety of things simultaneously, and the willingness to take risks and be held accountable.
- Must have knowledge of manufacturing operations, and equipment usage.
- Must possess good written and oral communication skills and be able to work with all levels of management.
- Must provide development, coaching, and counseling to employees
- Proven leadership experience
