Director of Data Systems & Insights

Position Overview

The Director of Data Systems & Insights will lead the strategic vision and execution of the organization’s data infrastructure, data management, and analytics strategy. This individual will oversee the creation, implementation, and optimization of data systems and processes, ensuring the efficient collection, integration, and analysis of data across multiple platforms. They will work closely with leadership and departments to transform data into actionable insights, drive business decisions, and ensure the scalability and reliability of the organization's data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data engineers, analysts, and infrastructure specialists.
• Drive the long-term strategy for data infrastructure, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Partner with business leaders to identify and prioritize data needs and opportunities that align with organizational goals.
• Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.

Data Infrastructure Ownership

• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of the organization's data infrastructure, including data warehouses, pipelines, ETL processes, and data storage solutions.
• Ensure the infrastructure is secure, scalable, and able to handle large datasets while meeting performance and compliance standards.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools to improve data processing, storage, and accessibility.

Analytics & Insights

• Lead the analytics team in providing actionable business intelligence by delivering insights from complex data sets.
• Drive the development of dashboards, reports, and other tools that provide key stakeholders with real-time insights and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
• Collaborate with departments (marketing, finance, operations, etc.) to understand their data needs and provide actionable recommendations.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnership

• Work closely with IT, engineering, and other teams to ensure seamless integration of data across all platforms.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to establish data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, consistency, and compliance with internal and external standards.
• Promote best practices for data management and analytics across the organization.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Stay current on trends in data infrastructure, analytics, and emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains competitive.
• Continuously assess and optimize data management processes to improve data accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility.
• Implement and refine data governance, privacy, and security policies in collaboration with relevant teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• 8+ years of experience in data infrastructure, data engineering, or analytics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong expertise in data architecture, cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), data storage solutions, and ETL processes.
• Proven experience with data management platforms, business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and analytics software.
• Deep understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, and compliance standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable business insights.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence senior leadership.

Preferred

• Experience with advanced analytics or machine learning is a plus.
• Familiarity with data visualization best practices and storytelling with data.
• Understanding the non-profit or media industries is a plus.

Pay Range:
The expected salary range for this position is $160,000 - $175,000 per year. The actual compensation offered will depend on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience, skills, and location. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package.
