Nex makes a motion-based gaming system called the Nex Playground that lets families play without traditional controllers. The core product is a hardware console with a built-in camera and a computer vision/AI system that tracks up to 18 body points, letting up to four players play games by moving their bodies instead of holding a controller. Games come bundled with the starter pack, and players can subscribe to Play Pass to access a growing catalog of over 40 titles, with new games added every month. Nex earns recurring revenue from the subscription in addition to the initial hardware sale. The Nex Playground is designed for indoor use, supports portable play with a travel case, and can operate without Wi‑Fi, making it suitable for family entertainment and active, kid-friendly play.

Nex partners with NFL to bring flag football to motion-powered Playground console

Nex has partnered with the National Football League to launch NFL FLAG Heroes, a motion-powered flag football game exclusive to its Nex Playground active play system. The game, featuring all 32 NFL clubs, allows players to use body movements to control fast-paced 5-on-5 flag football matches. Players act as quarterbacks and team captains in matches consisting of two two-minute halves. The game includes motion-controlled gameplay, character progression, and three competitive stages from school fields to NFL FLAG championships. Available through Nex Playground's Play Pass subscription, NFL FLAG Heroes marks Nex's third officially licensed sports title. The collaboration launches as flag football continues gaining popularity, with 4.1 million youth participants in the US and the sport set to debut at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Zambezi: Nex Playground restores the family TV's source of joy - a noisy, active living room.

Zambezi: Nex Playground restores the family TV's source of joy - a noisy, active living room. September 2, 2026 The family television is sad. As a silent witness to decades of family life, the TV has watched the living room evolve from a place filled with imagination, movement, and togetherness into one where each family member gradually retreats into their own personal screen. But the television is not sad forever. Nex Playground is transforming the living room back into a shared gathering place where families can connect. The film was created by US indie agency, Zambezi, its first work for Nex after becoming the motion play brand's creative AOR last year alongside media strategy by Scale by Zambezi. It leads the campaign Bring Back Family Time. "The living room used to be the ultimate stage for imagination and shared moments. From epic pillow battles and make-believe sword fights to laughter-filled family gatherings, every day was alive with energy and connection," stated Gavin Lester, chief creative officer at Zambezi. "Our goal is to show what happens when that space turns into a silent, blue-light slumber of individual scrolling, and how active play with Nex brings that life back. It's an idea that hits close to home for any parent who's watched their own living room grow quiet and invites Nex as the solution." The full campaign covers television, streaming, digital, social, and out-of-home media, introducing Nex nationally in the US while encouraging families to rethink the role technology can play in everyday life - reminding that technology can bring families together and help everyone to be more active and connected. Bringing the personified television to life as the silent witness, heartbeat and centerpiece of the family living room is acclaimed actor Richard Kind, whose unmistakable voice lends warmth, humour and heart to the campaign. Known for his colourful and emotive performances - including his role as Bing Bong in Pixar's Inside Out - Kind gives the film's narrator a sense of nostalgia and quirky charm as it reflects on decades of family life. "This campaign is much bigger than just introducing people to Nex Playground," said David Lee, CEO and co-founder of Nex. "In a world where screens are increasingly designed to capture our individual attention, we're proving that screens can do something different. We believe the best technology strengthens human connection, encourages movement, and creates moments families can share together. That's exactly what we're building, and what 'Bring Back Family Time' is inviting people to rethink." The campaign follows a significant growth period for Nex Playground, including a historic 2025 holiday season in which it outsold Xbox, surpassing one million units sold, launching in the United Kingdom, and announced plans to expand into Germany later this year, with France, Japan and South Korea to follow in 2027. As part of this growth strategy, Nex is showcasing a preview of the platform ahead of early availability in Germany later this year, following its successful rollout in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Looking ahead to 2027, the company also unveiled plans to continue its international expansion across select global markets in Europe and Asia. Pre-Ordering New Video Game Releases Early access to Nex Playground in Germany will be available through select e-commerce platforms by the end of 2026, with plans to officially rollout in retail stores in 2027, bringing Nex's active family gaming experience directly to German consumers as part of its targeted European expansion. Nex Playground is also expanding its library with iconic gaming franchises with SEGA and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. Players can look forward to the arrival of the high-energy Sonic Forces: Rival Rush(TM), and the arcade classic PAC-MAN(TM), both of which will be available this fall as part of the system's growing lineup of active, family-friendly experiences. With this expansion, Nex is building significant global momentum at the forefront of a breakout category that's redefining how families play, move, and connect. Through growing retail distribution, partnerships with globally recognized entertainment and gaming brands, and an expanding network of strategic partners, Nex has established itself as a leader in active family entertainment, surpassing one million lifetime units sold. "2026 is a defining moment for Nex as we take an even greater leap onto the global stage," said Tom Kang, President and Head of International at Nex. "As we bring Nex Playground to more families around the world, we're committed to scaling with the same focus on trust and safety that has been central to how we've built the platform from the beginning. With our launch in Germany and plans to expand into additional markets across Europe and Asia, we're moving closer to our mission of bringing active play, movement, connection, growth and joy to living rooms around the world."
