Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Health, Business, or a related field is required.
  • Requires 5+ years of experience in a combination of pharmaceutical brand marketing and/or patient services marketing.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of direct Veeva PromoMats experience.
  • Understand the assigned disease area and its unique patient journey.
  • Understand key elements of patient engagement strategy and the incumbent's role in executing that strategy.
  • Have excellent communication skills and be patient-centric and customer-service minded.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the agency of record to guide development of the creative platform, messaging, and creative campaign.
  • Guide the agency of record and research partner to develop concrete and engaging stimuli that produce concrete research outcomes.
  • Ideate, develop, and execute key tactics, messages, and materials for internal teams supporting healthcare professional and patient stakeholders.
  • Manage development of tactics with agency partners, validate tactics with relevant internal stakeholders, and manage review and approvals through the Commercial Review Committee.
  • Identify insights and trends and offer solutions to create exceptional patient experiences.
  • Act as a delegate to the Director of Marketing Communications.
  • Participate in strategy conversations and help deliver the vision of the Kidney franchise and the broader patient support program.
  • Establish measurement plans for owned materials and continuously monitor performance to inform future optimization or discontinuation.
  • Establish and lead the communications REP team and provide training and support to new and junior communications team members.
  • Manage multiple agency partners to ensure alignment, timely deliverables, and cost efficiencies where possible.
  • Cultivate partnerships with cross-functional teams, including the Communications Review Committee, to support business goals.
  • Manage the budget and make timely adjustments to remain fiscally responsible.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals recently hit an all-time high after bouncing back from recent setbacks. The biotech continues dominating the cystic fibrosis (CF) market with no meaningful competition, generating $3.2 billion in CF revenue last quarter. Second-quarter sales reached $3.33 billion, up 12% year-over-year, whilst earnings per share rose 8% to $4.31. Several competitors have attempted to challenge Vertex's CF dominance, but most have failed. Sionna Therapeutics' leading CF candidate recently flopped in mid-stage trials, whilst AbbVie previously abandoned its CF programmes. Beyond CF, Vertex is expanding into new areas. The company expects $500 million in non-CF revenue by 2026. Sionna Therapeutics is challenging Vertex Pharmaceuticals' dominance in the cystic fibrosis (CF) drug market. Vertex, valued at nearly $123 billion, generated $3.2 billion in CF-related sales in Q2, representing most of its $3.33 billion total revenue. Sionna, worth $2.2 billion, claims its approach could restore normal function to the CFTR protein, which causes CF when misfolded. Vertex's current treatments improve the protein's shape and function but don't restore normal function for most patients. Vertex generates over $12 billion annually from CF treatments. However, several companies, including AbbVie, have previously attempted to challenge Vertex's market position without success. Vertex has maintained its position since receiving its first CF drug approval in 2012.
