Requirements
  • A university degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent foreign institution, is required; non-technical degrees may be considered with appropriate analytical and technical knowledge.
  • A minimum of 6 years of related work experience is required.
  • Certification as a Consultant in one practice area or as an Apprentice in two practice areas, or an external equivalent, is required.
  • People First leadership training, or an external equivalent, is required.
  • Intro to Operations Research, or an external equivalent, is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational database management, including creating and executing queries, creating scripts, importing and exporting data, and manipulating data, with knowledge and experience using SQL.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel for charting and graphing data, writing formulas, utilizing functions, and filtering, sorting, and formatting data; intermediate knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • The ability to understand and work with Urban Science software tools and packages.
  • The ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and run meetings on schedule.
  • The ability to identify potential new client opportunities and proactively communicate those opportunities to management.

Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for project outcomes, including delivering projects on time, within budgeted hours, and at a high level of quality.
  • Assume responsibility for accurate and high-quality data used on assigned projects.
  • Provide knowledge and insight to senior management when creating client estimates and proposals.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and Urban Science technical staff on development projects to communicate client needs.
  • Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of client data to create client deliverables.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure software is properly installed, configured, and functioning at established quality levels.
  • Manage sustainment activities by updating software as appropriate to maintain established quality levels.
  • Respond to client inquiries and requests in a timely manner to improve client satisfaction.
  • Establish long-term business relationships with clients, understand their business needs, identify client opportunities, and support contract renewals.
  • Design, create, and manage client databases using Urban Science proprietary software while ensuring accurate and high-quality data.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of one or more Urban Science solutions and apply that knowledge to meet client needs.
  • Adhere to Urban Science and client quality-control standards.
  • Lead or participate in presentations of project status updates to client representatives or internal management using appropriate presentation tools.
  • Provide input to upper management regarding competitive conditions to identify business opportunities and deter competitive threats.
  • Support and participate in required Urban Science training programs.
  • Work with the manager to understand and implement solutions that improve client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with individuals or teams to complete analyses, tasks, and projects on time and with high quality.
  • Communicate updates and report issues to upper management in a timely manner.
  • Work with the manager to develop team-oriented goals and review and update them regularly.
  • Complete annual goal setting and performance reviews with the manager.
  • Support and promote change initiatives and provide direction on their impact on workflow or performance.
  • Work with the manager and Managing Director to support and promote employee engagement initiatives.
  • Recruit, select, train, manage, motivate, and develop selected staff.
  • Set objectives, assign and prioritize work, approve timesheets, and maintain work quality, quantity, and timeliness.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and oversee employee training, career planning, and promotions.
  • Coach, mentor, manage, and motivate employees; interpret and carry out corporate policies, including disciplinary procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 8 years of related work experience.
  • Technical degrees such as engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, applied science, information systems, or operations research.
  • Knowledge and experience with Visio.
  • Project management skills, including estimating work efforts, defining work plans, delegating work, monitoring progress, reporting schedule variances and scope changes, following internal Project Management Office procedures, and presenting project conclusions to management.
  • Proficiency with MS Project.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sales and business development processes.
  • Ability to understand and interpret margins, revenues, and cost sheets.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pricing, scope, cost estimates, and internal and external impacts.
