Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of credit analysis experience.
  • Specific underwriting expertise in one or more lending areas, such as commercial real estate or commercial and industrial underwriting.
  • Excellent financial analytical abilities and knowledge of financial ratios.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to structure and underwrite larger, more complex transactions.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, technical, problem-solving, and written communication skills for preparing credit memos and analyzing financial statements.
  • Initiative, judgment, discernment, and self-motivation to work with minimal supervision.
  • Resourcefulness and concern for quality, including understanding systems and processes and suggesting changes to improve efficiency.
  • Dependability demonstrated through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze relevant loan data for new, renewal, and existing loans, including information from credit bureaus, other financial institutions, and First United files.
  • Prepare thorough and concise memos, spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and opinions for Loan Officers on new, renewal, and existing loans within established deadlines.
  • Manage the bank's exposure to identified risks and recommend appropriate transaction structures in accordance with First United's credit policy.
  • Oversee and manage financial information files to keep reports, statements, accounts receivable, and other customer-account information current, and notify Loan Officers of potential problems promptly.
  • Establish, review, and update new and existing loan files for the bank regularly.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to Loan Officers.
  • Perform credit inquiries.
  • Communicate with customers, Loan Officers, and bank management in a clear, accurate, and concise manner.
  • Generate solutions to problems and suggest alternatives when necessary.
  • Contribute to bank-wide projects.
  • Initiate and lead bank-wide projects.
  • Focus on memos for relationships ranging from $2,000,000 and greater.
  • Deliver high volumes of loan activity through new originations or management of the existing portfolio.
  • Create and maintain working relationships with Loan Officers and other team members.
  • Assist with the training and development of Credit Analyst I and II employees.
