Senior Global Sourcing Manager

Job Description

As a member of the supply chain team, work closely with other Global Sourcing Managers and procurement organization, engineers, product managers to develop supplier relationships, commodity management supporting organizations’ goal on cost reduction, at the lowest cost of ownership. Find, evaluate and select suppliers; negotiate pricing and supplier agreements, responsible for supplier relationship, mitigating material and supplier risks, and driving supplier performance using KPI with defined measures. Build value-added relationships with all stakeholders including suppliers. Provide support to Alto-Shaam management with information and activities relating to suppliers, materials, and markets for assigned commodities.

The ideal candidate for a Sr. Global Sourcing Manager would be able to do the following:

1. Commodity Strategy/Management
   1.  Develop and execute cross functionally aligned global sourcing strategies for assigned commodities within the scope of authority and consistent with the objectives, policies, and best interests of Alto-Shaam. The strategies should balance short-term and long-term objectives and business priorities to achieve performance goals relating to quality, total cost, and material or service availability.
   2. Set annual commodity management goals with regular updates on progress. Effectively communicate global commodity market information to the organization.
   3. Understand organization needs for alternate materials/suppliers. Investigate alternates and make recommendations consistent with Alto-Shaam’ corporate and divisional goals.
   4. Conduct research on market dynamics, cost drivers, supplier business models, and historical spend to enhance negotiations for assigned categories and contracts
   5. Evaluate existing and new suppliers for applicable capabilities, quality systems, management and financial stability, cost competitiveness, responsiveness, collaboration, and innovation. Identify opportunities to access supplier technologies and facilitate discussions between Alto-Shaam and supplier technical resources
2. Performance
   1. Demonstrate supplier proficiencies through core competency management
   2. Measure and manage commodity and supplier performance using key measures and regularly communicate to key suppliers
   3. Manage the entire lifecycle of sourcing & procurement projects, working closely with suppliers and internal customers from planning & bid preparation to budget/forecasting, general delivery specs, negotiation, contracting, invoicing, and reporting consistent with policies and objectives
   4. Must be able to understand demand and supply constraints of commodities, taking into account tier 2 impacts and set up successful global order plans for effective purchasing organization.
   5. Implement and manage long term agreements which deliver best in class quality, delivery, and lowest total cost
3. Relationship Management
   1. Develops and implements supplier strategies building action plans to strategic partnerships and mitigating underperforming suppliers
   2. Lead business reviews with key suppliers.
   3. Manage supplier relationships including communicating risks/opportunities with stake holders. Make recommendations for alternate suppliers, designs, and materials to reduce costs and supply risks. Will require periodic travel to supplier locations
   4. Monitor the performance of suppliers to ensure they meet Alto-Shaam’ standards. Develop and implement methods for improving supplier quality and service performance. Resolve claims (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner while protecting the long-term interests of the company
   5. Build partnerships with internal stakeholders to gather and/or understand the requirements of their procurement needs; facilitate communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers 
4. Other
   1. Interface with procurement organization team members, Supplier quality Engineers and Buyer/planners supporting the commodity needs for the organization
   2. Utilize Oracle ERP including ability to data mine and support sourcing decision

Qualifications

EDUCATION / SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management, or an equivalent combination of formal education and work experience.
• Procurement- Sourcing experience in one of the following commodity sets:
  • electro-mechanical components, motors, air management, PCBA’s, and wire/cable assemblies
  • Motors, air-moving Fans and blowers
  • Controls including VFD, gaskets, pumps, etc
• Demonstrated record of identifying, initiating, and delivering year over year cost savings.
• Experience developing and implementing global sourcing strategies
• Ability to develop, interpret and make decisions from total cost of ownership models.
• Demonstrated experience with Oracle and experience to data mine to drive sourcing decision
• Strong organizational skills; and to drive effective project execution.
• Practical knowledge of how supply chains work and ability to assess cost drivers of industrial processes.
• Robust problem-solving techniques and ability to develop creative ideas and solutions.
• Strong analytical skills. Ability to understand and communicate basic technical information both internally & externally.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills inclusive of all Microsoft Business Suite required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint). Qlik experience a plus.
• Minimum of eight years’ experience in Supply Management, Materials Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing, or Engineering.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 15%).
• Previous annual spend under management of $30MM or more preferred.
• Change management experience gained in a lean manufacturing or six sigma environment is preferred.
• Purchasing experience in a high-mix, lower-volume industry is beneficial.
