Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with 15 or more years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Deep, hands-on experience managing late-stage development programs through registration and approval.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional development sub-teams and running formal governance bodies at the program or portfolio level.

Responsibilities
  • Own the integrated Trutakna project plan and supporting program management deliverables, timelines, milestones, dependencies, critical path, dashboards, and RAID logs.
  • Lead the Development Sub-Team across Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, CMC, Biostatistics, Drug Safety, and other R&D functions.
  • Lead Research and Development Governance, including agenda development, meeting facilitation, decision tracking, and action-item resolution.
  • Manage the weekly Development Sub-Team meeting end to end by building the agenda, producing presentations, capturing and distributing minutes, and driving closure on open items.
  • Lead with Program Management Office best practices and bring rigor and discipline to teams and the Program and Portfolio Management function.
  • Partner with the Global Program Team Lead and Global Program Team Program Manager to translate strategy into coordinated execution plans and communicate program risk and status.
  • Partner with the Chief Medical Officer and executive leaders to align clinical execution, timelines, risk visibility, program governance, and the R&D Review and Decision Committee.
  • Manage and mentor direct-report program and project managers, fostering professional development and building program management capability.
  • Identify and manage program risks and issues with functional leaders, escalating clear options and recommendations when executive decisions are required.
  • Maintain engagement with cross-functional stakeholders between governance touchpoints to ensure alignment and resolve emerging issues.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and dependencies to functional leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Strengthen program management rigor and discipline within R&D, including governance cadence, reporting tools, and cross-functional communication norms.
  • Support other programs or R&D initiatives as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree, including PhD, MD, or MBA.
  • Direct BLA/NDA experience.
  • Experience combining large biopharma and smaller, fast-moving biotech environments.

FDA approves Vera's TRUTAKNA for IgA nephropathy, first BAFF and APRIL inhibitor

The US Food and Drug Administration has granted accelerated approval to Vera Therapeutics' TRUTAKNA for treating adult patients with primary IgA nephropathy at risk for disease progression. TRUTAKNA is the first therapy that binds both B-cell activating factor and A proliferation-inducing ligand, targeting immunological drivers of the disease. In the interim analysis of the ongoing ORIGIN 3 trial, participants achieved a 46% reduction from baseline in proteinuria, with a 42% reduction compared to placebo at 36 weeks. The therapy is administered as a 150 mg subcutaneous injection once weekly via an autoinjector at home. The accelerated approval is based on proteinuria reduction. Continued approval depends on verification of clinical benefit in the ongoing trial, with results expected in Q3 2026.

Vera Therapeutics receives FDA priority review for IgAN drug, eyes July approval

Vera Therapeutics, a biotechnology company developing treatments for immunological diseases, reported a first-quarter net loss of $121 million, or $1.69 per share, compared to a $51.7 million loss in the same period last year. The FDA granted priority review to Vera's biologics licence application for atacicept, an investigational treatment for IgA Nephropathy in adults, with a target decision date of 7 July 2026.
