Requirements
  • The entry-level candidate must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • The candidate must hold Firefighter I and II certifications.
  • The candidate must be certified as an Emergency Medical Responder or Emergency Medical Technician.
  • The candidate must have a current driver's license.
  • The candidate must hold Hazmat Operations certification.
  • The candidate must pass an NFPA 1582 physical examination.
  • The candidate must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
  • The candidate must be able to operate an access control system, use a computer for incident reports, operate security software systems or applications, and use email.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • The candidate must manage multiple tasks and execute radio and telephone communications in a medium- to high-pressure environment with frequently changing or competing demands.
  • The candidate must possess above-average written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and interact effectively with client staff and the public.
Responsibilities
  • Understand and follow all standard operating procedures.
  • Follow emergency action and communication plans and standard operating procedures during emergencies.
  • Complete incident reports as required.
  • Respond to fire, medical, security, hazardous materials, and threat situations according to the emergency response plan, standard operating procedures, and medical director protocols.
  • Perform routine daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of fire alarm, fire suppression, and security equipment.
  • Physically inspect fire suppression systems, including sprinkler systems, manual and automatic alarm-initiating devices, fire panels, and standpipe hoses.
  • Perform daily inspections of apparatus, security vehicles, and emergency response equipment.
  • Patrol facilities for fire or building code violations and additional safety hazards and report findings to a supervisor.
  • Act as a weather spotter and monitor weather alerts through Sky Guard or other notification systems.
  • Approve and inspect hot-work, high-hazard hot-work, and confined-space permits.
  • Participate in daily emergency-response training to maintain readiness.
  • Maintain compliance with personal fire, medical, and hazardous materials certifications as required by local mandate.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Industrial firefighter experience is preferred.
  • Hazardous Materials Technician certification is preferred.
  • NIMS Training 100, 200, 700, and 800 is preferred.
