Requirements
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
  • Graduation from a U.S.-accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
  • An active Connecticut Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license with prescriptive authority and current Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
  • At least two years of experience practicing as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in a clinical setting.
  • Experience treating individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Certification and authorization to prescribe Buprenorphine.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and supervision.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating effectively with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, mental status examinations, safety assessments, and ongoing psychiatric care for clients across the continuum of care.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director, physicians, nursing staff, counselors, and other multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Partner with the Medical Director and Detox Nursing to manage detoxification protocols, conduct medical rounds, and ensure safe, effective psychiatric care.
  • Review prescreens and assess prospective admissions for psychiatric and medical appropriateness.
  • Support and expand Medication Assisted Treatment and other evidence-based psychiatric and addiction treatment initiatives.
  • Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, onboarding, and clinical supervision to Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurses while fostering clinical excellence and professional development.
  • Participate in on-call coverage to support inpatient psychiatric and medical needs outside regular business hours.
  • Serve as a psychiatric and addiction medicine resource for clinical staff by providing education, consultation, and guidance on best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and other departments to promote continuity of care and ensure smooth client transitions throughout treatment.
  • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing, respond to crisis situations, and implement interventions that promote client safety and mental wellness.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards related to psychiatric care, prescribing practices, and client confidentiality.
  • Support the Medical Director in the ongoing development and advancement of psychiatric and addiction medicine services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous leadership or lead clinician experience within an inpatient behavioral health or addiction treatment setting.
  • Experience working within medically managed detoxification and residential treatment programs.
  • Familiarity with Medication Assisted Treatment and other evidence-based practices for addiction medicine.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary behavioral healthcare environment.
